From student to brand ambassador

SANDTON - Grant Markram has joined the International Hotel School Sandton Campus as one of its brand ambassadors.

Last year, Markram competed in the school’s bursary competition in which he went the extra-mile to secure his win, thus affording him the opportunity to pursue his studies in the field of hospitality.

Markram (18) was born and bred in the city and discovered his passion for hospitality at a young age.

His family would regularly entertain friends, and he would actively assist with the preparation and serving of the guests. Markram said his passion was truly awakened when he was presented with a job shadowing opportunity at the award winning, Palazzo, Montecasino.

Markram said he loved that the school and the overall presentation of the students, staff and corporate image was at such a professional level.

He said being a brand ambassador meant representing the values of the school to the best of his abilities. “I believe I was chosen to be brand ambassador because I have proven myself eligible to uphold what the school stands for,” he said.

In the future, Markram sees himself completing his qualification, being an expert in the hospitality industry, and starting his own business. His motto in life is: ‘If you believe it, you can achieve it and do not be afraid to let your true colours show.’
