Mocktail must-tries for the sensible driver
Every now and again we just want to taste the delicious freshness offered only by an ice cold, tasty cocktail. But sometimes our responsibilities fill the day so much so that we will have to resort to some other non-alcoholic drink. Not this time honey.

Here are three non-alcoholic cocktails or mocktails that is, that you can make at home and have at any time of the day. So head to your nearest grocer now if you haven’t already got these simple ingredients, and let’s get our mocktail on.
Watermelon Margarita

If you’re enjoying this one with a friend, show some extra pizzaz by using the watermelon half-shells as your groovy mocktail ‘glasses’, add a wriggly straw and a cocktail umbrella and you’re in Hawaii baby!
You’ll need:
10kg seedless watermelon
1 cup lime juice
1 cup sparkling water
4 tbsp agave
Method:
- Chop the watermelon straight through the middle to have 2 halves.
- In a mixer, blend enough watermelon chunks so that you have 4 cups of watermelon puree properly mixed.
- Add lime juice and agave and blend again.
- Pour the contents into 4 cups.
- Top them with sparkling water.
Your Virgin Watermelon Margarita is ready!
Strawberry Chamomile Martini

With the scorching temperatures hitting Jozi this summer, everyone is going to need a thirst quenching, soul revitalising and body rejuvenating go-to drink. And we think the Virgin Strawberry Chamomile Martini is just the one.
You’ll need:
100ml chamomile mint and hibiscus kiwi concoction
1 strawberry
5 mint leaves
8-10 orange and lemon wedges
2 small ginger bits
Method:
- Make chamomile mint and hibiscus kiwi concentrate
- Add 3 teaspoons of chamomile mint and hibiscus kiwi in the brew maker
- Add 3 teaspoons of sugar/honey/sugar substitute based on preference
- Add 100ml hot water
- Let it steep for 5 minutes
- Filter the concentrate in a cup after 5 mins
- Add strawberry, orange wedges, ginger bits and mint in a shaker and muddle them together.
- Add chamomile and hibiscus kiwi concentrate to the shaker. Add ice, and shake well and serve into a cocktail coupe.
French 75
Gin is most definitely the trendiest drink around right now. And not having a cocktail here that included gin would have been insanity. Oh but wait, these are mocktails we’re making, no alcohol… Well, good thing there’s Vermont VerGIN Non-Alcoholic Gin! Party time!
You’ll need:
10ml Vermont VerGIN Non-Alcoholic Gin
10ml orange liqueur
10ml lemon
5ml sugar
Fizz of your choice
Mix the gin, orange liqueur and lemon juice in a flute and top with chilled non-alcoholic bubbly. Party on.
