Swimming lesson special
Sandton – B's Swim School in Bryanston is running a swimming course for underprivileged children because water safety is of utmost importance for all children.

Water safety is of utmost importance to parents of little children.
Unfortunately, many children have lost their lives in drowning accidents and water safety has always been a social issue.
It is for this reason that Bryanston-based B’s Swim School is running a winter special for underprivileged children. These children will be offered lessons at a discounted rate.
“This programme is aimed at children of all ages, from six months and up, who are not yet swimming, and the course teaches children to swim as well as how to be water safe,” explained the swim school’s founder, Brendan Varrie.
“Our B Swim Safe course is unique in that it can get children from age six months and up [to be] water safe, while children from 13 months and up are taught the swim-float-swim method,” said Varrie.
He highlighted the social issues surrounding water safety when he said, “Drowning is a crisis in most South African communities. By using behavioural techniques and a system that builds a child’s confidence in the water, enables us to get children water safe and swimming in a short space of time. This is our way of giving back to our community and to those who cannot normally afford swimming lessons.”
Varrie said the programme would run for about four to six weeks. The first training course starts on 23 May and the second course begins on 11 June. Parents are encouraged to take note of the importance of water safety for the sake of their children.
