Exciting holiday shows hit Sandton City

SANDTON - Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be a part of Sandton City’s spectacular Christmas activities.

This year the shopping centre has decided to double the fun by hosting two exciting events the whole family will enjoy. Not only will youngsters get to enjoy the Ninja Turtles but Sandton City is also going to be transformed into Lego World.

There will be life-sized Lego figurines, such as Buzz and Woody from Toy Story and Star Wars’ Yoda, on show, as well as Lego displays in the passageways around the mall on the upper level. The Checkers Court is going to be home to a large Lego play area where children can sit and play with Lego and Duplo blocks to their hearts’ content and take part in speed-build competitions.

Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael of the Ninja Turtles will thrill youngsters with three shows a day, at 12pm, 3pm and 6pm, as well as meet-and-greet sessions at 1pm to 2pm and 4pm to 5pm.

On 24 December, the Ninja Turtle shows will be held at 12pm, 3pm and 4pm, and a meet-and-greet session will take place from 1pm to 2pm.

There will also be a Fire Engine Build in which youngsters will be able to help build an enormous fire engine, a process that takes about 250 000 Lego bricks and four to five days to complete. The fire engine is then dismantled and the fun starts all over again.

Sandton City’s famous electric train is also offering youngsters rides around the centre. One of the most important people at Christmas, Santa Claus, will be sitting in his sleigh, posing for photographs with customers.

There will be two gift-wrapping kiosks where shoppers can have all their presents beautifully wrapped for a donation of R10 per gift, and all proceeds from the gift wrapping will be donated to Sandton City’s selected charity for 2014, HospiceWits.
