The Best Man Holiday: Reunion or re-hash?
SANDTON - 14 years later, the 1999 movie The Best Man finally has a sequel.

United International Pictures held a screening of the 2013 sequel, The Best Man Holiday, on 23 January in Sandton. The movie is set to hit South African cinemas from the first week of February.
It looks like the director, Malcolm D Lee, desperately wanted to ensure that the audience remembered the 1999 comedy-drama; so much so that most parts of the three-hour long sequel felt like a reminder of what happened in the first movie.
Nonetheless, The Best Man Holiday is filled with lots of laughs and tears from start to finish, and the blend of comedy and tragedy has been well-executed. Lee did not compromise on the dialogue in the movie and he gave all the characters more to do: their relationships with one another are more indepth and it was interesting to see how the characters had grown, but also how they remained the same.
Although it might feel like a re-hash, it’s a feel-good movie about friendship, love and faith; a story with good music and a heart-warming narrative, with emotion in every scene.
