Guests enjoy premiere of Madiba movie
MOVIE fanatics gathered at the United International Pictures to watch the premiere of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom in Sandton.
Movie critic, Peter Feldman said Idris Elba, who plays Nelson Mandela in the movie, did a good job at portraying the former statesman. “It is a hard role to play, so many people have tried and he did not do too badly.”
South African actors Tony Kgoroge, Terry Pheto and Jamie Bartlett also impressed the audience with their performance in the movie.
Writer, Kemong Mopedi said she particularly enjoyed Elba’s interpretation of Mandela’s famous accent. She said, “His Mandela accent was definitely spot on. You can tell that he worked extra hard to get that right. But his Xhosa was not so great,” she added.
