Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Fani Madida launches football foundation
SANDTON – Former South Africa striker launches a foundation aimed at providing younger players with an opportunity and improving sports facilities.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Fani Madida recently launched his football foundation at the Protea Hotel Balalaika in Sandton on 11 September.
The Didiza34 Foundation is aimed at using sports, education and cultural activities to expose young people to the opportunities the world has to offer.
According to the Kaizer Chiefs website, in his career, Madida turned out for Giant Blackpool, Kaizer Chiefs, Hellenic, Besiktas, Antalyaspor and Bursaspor Kulübü Dernei. The football website further reveals that Madida netted 34 league goals in the 1994 season, a 27-year record which remains to this day. His remarkable form in the 1994 season inspired him to name the foundation Didiza34.
“I had an opportunity to play on an international stage and through the foundation, I want to expose young players, both boys and girls, to opportunities through sports, education arts and culture,” Madida said.
The foundation will also lend a helping hand in equipping young athletes and the communities in which they live with the necessary tools, keeping in line with the old adage that ‘charity begins at home’.

The foundation will host a fundraising event on 12 October, starting with a corporate 5-a-side challenge in the morning. The day will conclude with a gala dinner that has been dubbed A Night with Fani Madida.
Funds raised from the event will go towards the upgrading of sports facilities and also programmes that will be initiated at deserving schools.
