Weekend’s premiership matches postponed

JOBURG - Bafana Bafana's late arrival back in the country from their South American tour has disrupted the Premier Soccer League, leading to last minute postponement of this weekend's matches.

Bafana Bafana’s late arrival back in the country from their South American tour has disrupted the Premier Soccer League, leading to last minute postponement of this weekend’s matches.

The league has postponed four of this weekend’s scheduled Absa Premiership fixtures. It said the move has been necessitated by the late arrival of the senior national team, Bafana Bafana who are now scheduled to arrive back in the country tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

League CEO, Brand de Villiers said they have had to reschedule this weekend’s Absa Premiership fixtures because of circumstances beyond their control.

“We would like to thank our sponsors, Absa and broadcast rights holders for their understanding and cooperation. We would like to also apologise to the football supporters who had already purchased tickets and made arrangements to attend the affected fixtures.”

The fixture between Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday will go ahead as planned, whilst a decision on the Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City fixture has not yet been finalised.

The league has set aside 27 and 28 October as catch up dates and kick-off will be at 7pm. The clashes between Chippa United and SuperSport United; Bidvest Wits match against Jomo Cosmos; and Kaizer Chiefs and Mpumalanga Black Aces have all been moved to 27 October, while the Platinum Stars versus Ajax Cape Town will now be played on 28 October.
