SA bowler brings back three gold medals

BRYANSTON – Bryanston Sports Club bowler, Prince Neluonde, returned with three gold medals after representing South Africa in Zambia for the African States Tournament.

Neluonde was part of a five-man team, together with a team of five women, who played in the four disciplines of fours, trips, pairs and singles.

Tony Mazaris, a member of the club’s committee said the tournament was contested against seven other African countries. He said South Africa came back from the tournament with nine gold medals and one silver.

“A wonderful achievement when you consider that there were only 10 gold medals on offer,” said Mazaris.

He said Neluonde would represent South Africa again in the next two months in Cyprus at The Atlantic Tournament. “This is a very prestigious tournament, the third biggest behind the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships,” added Mazaris.

“All of us at the Bryanston Sports Club are very proud of his achievements and wish him the best of luck in the future.”
