King David Sandton hosts a Big Walk and Night Run

SANDTON - King David Sandton proudly hosted a 5km King David Big Walk and the first ever King David Night Run, which was sponsored by Discovery Health.

With more than 2 000 participants, including pupils, parents, grandparents and staff, the event aimed to unite the King David schools in a fun and healthy way by encouraging unity and cohesiveness.

This year, the walk was followed by the night run where more than 400 King David High School pupils and adults wore bandannas and ran for a cause. The participants of the night run were encouraged to pre-select worthy charities or organisations to which all money raised from the night would be donated.

Up-and-coming South African act, Majozi, entertained the crowds and a giant outdoor movie was later enjoyed.

“The walk and run are a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy time together outdoors,” said Rabbi Craig Kacev, director of the South Africa Board of Jewish Education.

“With an excellent turnout of families from all King David campuses, the walk and run proved to be a successful and enjoyable event. The inclusion of the night run added a component of charity for high school students and reinforced the King David value of giving to others.”
