Fifa president steps down
JOBURG - FIFA (Federation International Football Association), president Sepp Blatter has announced his plans to step down, requesting for a new president to be elected.

This comes four days after he was re-elected on Friday. Blatter announced his decision at a press conference, held in Zurich, Switzerland on 2 June.
It is assumed that Blatters decision to step down is in response to FIFA being embroiled in one of the biggest corruption scandals to affect the sporting industry.
Blatter who has been president of FIFA since 1998, confirmed that he would serve until a new election. An emergency extraordinary meeting will be held at a later stage to elect Blatter’s successor.
