Saints kicks off Easter Festival
PETER PLACE - St Stithians kicked off their annual Easter Sports Festival with a bang on 1 April as the school went head to head against some of Gauteng’s top tennis schools.

The day began at 12pm with the round robin tennis tournament with St Stithians Boys’ College playing St Benedict’s College, Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool playing against Pretoria Boys’ High School and Clifton College playing against Grey College.
St Stithians was represented by Dylan Walters and Kyle Johnson in their singles matches against Sheldon Löser and Chris Roberts from St Benedict’s College.
Master in charge of Tennis at St Stithian Boys’ College Basie Viljoen said although some of the college’s players have been called in for the South African Tennis Association National Tournament, they still have a strong team for the Easter Festival tournament.
He said the mood at the tennis courts was one of excitement and optimism among the players. He added, “I think the festival is one that all players and coaches really enjoy.”
The winning school, which will be decided in the finals on 4 April, will stand a chance to win the Kevin Anderson trophy named after the former St Stithians’ student and current tennis pro. Anderson’s mother Barbara attended the opening of the festival to show her support for the school.
Anderson said her son enjoyed his time at the school and will always support the St Stithians’ tennis department.
