Mountain biking for books
BRYANSTON - One of the two City Lodge mountain bikers who competed in the Joburg2C mountain bike event crossed the finish line.

Henri Joubert and Ryan Ruthven decided to compete in the Joburg2C race to raise funds for the Nelson Mandela Day Library Campaign. The campaign transforms old shipping containers into well-stocked libraries for needy school children around the country. (‘Riding for Reading’, Fourways Review, week ending 11 April)
Bryanston resident Joubert, who is the international business development manager for the City Lodge Hotel Group, made it to the finish line of the nine-day mountain bike event. The race started in Heidelberg, Gauteng and ended in Scottburgh in KwaZulu-Natal.
While Joubert picked up a knee strain along the way he still pressed on to finish the 900km event. Unfortunately his partner Ryan Ruthven, head of IT for City Lodge, could not finish the race due to illness along the way.
Joubert said that he will definitely do the race again.
