Champs in suits

Thousands take part in J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge.

A full capacity crowd of 13 000 runners and joggers took to the damp streets surrounding Wanderers to participate in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge®, the world’s premier corporate fitness event.

After 11 years on the road running calendar, the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge appears to have become more popular and has become one of the biggest road running attractions of its kind, over this distance, in South Africa.

The race, owned and operated by J.P. Morgan, promotes teamwork and fitness in the workplace, and annually supports a worthy cause.

A donation, on behalf of all participants, was made to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.

The 10 largest companies in terms of entrants were Standard Bank, KPMG, Investec, Nedbank Limited, Liberty, Rand Water, Deloitte, PwC, South African Breweries, and Ernst & Young.

Female Winner Annah Moeketsi

Capacity for the event is set at 13 000 in order to insure the best possible experience for the participants, and minimise the impact on the neighboring community.

The top teams earn an invitation to compete in the 2015 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge.

First across the finish line for the men was Samuel Segoaba (16:50) representing Transnet Engingeering; the woman to cross the finish line was Annah Moeketsi (21:28) representing Transnet Engineering.

“I love the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge, it is a great race and is a way for me to get more sponsors on my side,” said Moeketsi.

Beating the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge time from last year, Segoaba had this to say about the race: “I like to run this race because it gives me a challenge – it is a flat run so it makes me faster and stronger.”

Once again good friendships, team spirit and camaraderie were shared by all, and not even the weather could dampen the atmosphere.
