Recycling is easy

JOHANNESBURG – Sylvia Farkas of Glenhazel writes to us about the ease of recycling and helping trolley-pushers.

Sylvia Farkas of Glenhazel writes:

I read your From the Editor note, Week ending 27 January, with interest.

Why can’t we all put our recyclable waste in a plastic bag next to our household bins and on rubbish collection days we put the bag out next to the bins so that the trolley-pushers don’t have to dig into our rubbish bins. They simply take what they want out of the recyclable bag – it’s much easier for them and we are helping them make a few bucks without costing us anything, except the cost of a plastic bag!

This way we also prevent waste landing in our waterways. I have been doing this for a while now with very little effort.
