Dracula Untold is nothing like Twilight, so if you are looking for a replacement this is not it. However, if you are a vampire fanatic and sharp fangs, blood and a pale-faced good looking lead gets your adrenaline going, then this is definitely the movie for you.
Gary Shore, the director, aims to thrill the audience with his version of the famous story. The handsome Luke Evans plays the infamous Dracula and his character carries the movie from the beginning to the end.
Shore’s rendition of the story of Dracula takes away the idea that he was nothing but a blood-thirsty monster who killed people. The director strips down the character to when he was just a man who sacrificed his humanity to save the people he loved. Dracula is seen as a hero and a great leader to his people.
The director’s version of the story is interesting in that it shows the audience how Dracula became a vampire. However, the movie tends to be very predictable in its order of events.
Nonetheless, the ending leaves the audience wanting more and hoping that the director releases a sequel soon.
Dracula Untold will be released at South African cinemas nationwide on 3 October.
