Thank you for your report on the closure of the Sandton City Post Office.
This is the only information I have been able to gather on this abrupt and entirely disruptive action by the management of this post office.
Surely some contingency planning was undertaken? Sandton City Post Office services businesses, shops, banks and hotels in the commercial hub of Africa.
Will the management of this post office take some responsibility for the disruption in international communication that this closure has caused?
Is the incoming mail going to be sorted/abandoned? How will customers of this post office receive details of parcels and registered post?
Notification of rentals due for Sandton City Post Office boxes are posted on a board next to the post boxes. Surely a similar notice could have been used to inform box holders of the closure of the boxes?
Am I the only Sandton City Post Office box holder who is irate at this latest lack of consideration for the post office’s customers?
I also went to empty out my box last week Friday only to discover that the boxes were to be relocated and no estimated date was provided on the notice. I never received any notification whatsoever regarding the temporary closure of the post boxes. This is a company post box so what happens if business post is sitting there for who knows how long. How can one run a business efficiently without a post box for mail. Who do we hold accountable for lost business.
