On 4 March, while taking my kids to school we were hit by a giant uprooted tree.
We were travelling along Cowley Road on our way to Petervale. While stopped at a traffic light, we heard a crack and the next moment all hell broke loose. The tree landed on the passenger side of my car, which fortunately was fairly solid. It landed right between the front and first row of seats, where my children were sitting. Fortunately and miraculously nobody was hurt.
I would really like to thank some amazing Good Samaritans. The ADT man who quickly came to help and make sure we got out the car speedily in case the car collapsed further under the pressure. The amazing ladies who rushed to our aid, one in the car in front and one in the car behind. They both raced off in different directions and came back with cokes and chocolates to help us all with the shock. Thank you and sorry I never asked your names in the panic. To the tow truck man who was amazing and patient. They normally get a bad rap, but this guy went the extra-mile. Thanks to the emergency vehicle and everyone else who stepped in to help.
It was a terrifying experience, but it could have been a lot worse. To everyone, be careful out there as you never know when something might happen.
