Beware of bike muggings

At 4.30pm on 9 November near traffic lights in Benmore, two cyclists returning home from a ride were cut off by a blue, old model Citi Golf with two men and a woman inside.

Rose Johnson writes:

The men jumped out, threatened the cyclists with large knives and demanded their phones and wallets.

Within full view of pedestrians and traffic, it happened so fast that only when the car sped off at high speed did anyone realise something was amiss.

Cyclists beware and be on the lookout for this car and should you hear a car behind you approaching at speed be alert. We’ve had ‘bikejackings’, now bike muggings.

It is a shocking state of affairs when crime reaches this level that you can’t even ride your bike in safety in a suburban street.
