St Stithians conclude epic basketball season

LYME PARK – St Stithians Boys' Preparatory celebrates the end of a successful basketball season.

St Stithians Boys’ Preparatory School has celebrated the end of a dominating basketball season.

The preparatory school hosted fixtures against The Ridge School and St John’s Preparatory on 7 March. Eleven matches were played among the three schools with St Stithians triumphing by winning all eleven games.

The stars of the day were the Open A Saints team who beat St John’s with a convincing score of 31–10 during the last match of the day. The team recently went on tour to KwaZulu-Natal, taking part in two tournaments in Pietermaritzburg and Durban.

“The boys played eight games in all and got a chance to improve their basketball skills against some tough KwaZulu-Natal opponents,” said Ashley Magongwa, head of basketball at Saints.

“The Open A’s have had an unbeaten season thus far, having had fixtures against St Peter’s Prep, St Benedict’s Prep and St Johns’ Prep, this past Saturday,” Magongwa added.

The basketball season came to an end with two fixtures against St David’s Preparatory The Ridge School. “These boys have made us so proud and we hope to see them end their Prep basketball season of 2020, unbeaten. Congratulations boys.”
