GM says New Year’s was better than expected at the Sandton SPCA

SANDTON – General manager at the Sandton SPCA Ralph Hohls said the New Year's celebrations weren't as bad they aspected.

General manager at the Sandton SPCA Ralph Hohls writes:

We had a better-than-expected Christmas and New Year’s Eve period in terms of fireworks-related strays and collections and it seems that, hopefully, the groundswell of opinion towards a firework-free celebration may be starting to take hold in a very small way. But we still have a long way to go.

We also had a very successful fundraiser, wrapping gifts at the Sandton City mall over December and raising much-needed funds to get us through the festive season. We appeal, as always, for more volunteers to help us with such a worthy cause at the end of 2020.

Looking forward we are still as always in need of funds to run the day-to-day operations of our shelter, but specifically food and fly traps are needed at this time of year.

And remember, adopt, don’t shop!
