Practice good card security
SANDTON – In spite of fraud statistics, your bank card might still be the most secure and convenient payment option.
In spite of fraud statistics, your bank card may still be the most secure and convenient payment option: with a little common sense and a proactive approach, according to Nedbank executive, Chris Wood.
“While the fears around card fraud are understandable, it’s worth remembering that cash can actually be far riskier, because if it is lost or stolen, you have absolutely no way of preventing someone else from spending it,” Wood said.
Here is a list of five simple but essential safety guidelines every cardholder should follow to maintain the security of their debit and credit cards:
- Never write down your PIN code anywhere and at any cost – this includes your cell phone
- Never give anyone your card
- Avoid dodgy online stores and deals
- Go digital
- Think before you act.
