Recognising future leaders

RIVONIA – Rivonia Primary School hosted the District Awards ceremony recognising primary school learners who have done well.

Rivonia Primary School hosted the Foundation Phase District awards on 12 September. School learners and teachers gathered at the Sandton-based school to celebrate academic excellence on a primary school level.

Educational specialists, teachers and parents were treated to art performances, drama plays and singing from the learners as they welcomed everyone before the ceremony began.

Deputy chief education specialist, Irene Andrei said, “This is to recognise our learners that they have done well and achieved something because at times when we do not reward learners for their excellence and they get demotivated.

“We also felt the need to recognise schools that have improved in certain aspects from our district. All the learners who got awards today will get to compete with other learners from other districts on a provincial level.”

Rivonia Primary School Grade 1 learner Mikayla Gordon took first place for reading and comprehension, while Georgia Fraser-Alridge achieved first place in reading competition.
