It’s all smiles for orphans at the Nashua children’s foundation

SANDTON – Cahi Dental Practice gave the gift of a smile to orphans at the Nashua Children's Charity Foundation.

Orphans at the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation got their very first dentist check-up at Cahi Dental Practice in Atholl.

The foundation supports 75 charities across the province.

“Our aim is to make children as comfortable as possible,” said Helen Fraser, operations director of Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation.

“It’s heartbreaking to learn that even a simple dentist check-up is a ‘luxury’, so we are more than grateful to Cahi Dental Practice, who have been supporting us for a while now.”

The dentists at the practice are doing this community service as part of their Miss South Africa sponsorship. “Miss South Africa and the good work done by all who take part in the pageant is synonymous with what we believe here at the practice. It is so important to give back to the community and most especially, our children,” said Dr Norman Cahi.

He further explained that the practice is more than happy to assist wherever they can, “The children will receive a dental check-up and further treatments if need be. All these treatments are done for free and each child will also be given a hamper with a toothbrush, toothpaste, toys and meal packs.”

Meanwhile, Dr Chelsea Cahi screened and cleaned the children’s teeth. “I like how they are so well behaved. Even though they are a bit anxious at first, it seems to be a good first dental appointment,” she said.

Patients at the practice also came to support the amazing initiative. Two such patients are Kristen Munlen and Sharon Raman who bring samoosas for the children every year. “This is our third year of supporting the initiative and we are more than happy to help and see the beautiful smile’s on the children’s faces,” said Raman.

The Miss South Africa Top 16 finalists were also there on the day. They played with the kids, did some face painting and held their little hands throughout their dental check-up appointment.
