Celebrating the new Early Childhood Development programme for practitioners in Alexandra

WOODMEAD – About 160 ECD practitioners will receive a practical course that will enable them to help develop young children.

E Club of Southern Africa District D9400 and esteemed guests gathered at the Johannesburg Country Club in Woodmead to celebrate the launch of the new Early Childhood Development programme for ECD practitioners in Alexandra.

Sandton Chronicle’s Laura Pisanello was there to highlight the launch.

The launch on 26 January saw Kgabo Ralebepa, the incoming district president highlight the importance of developing South Africa’s future leaders and enable to ECD practitioners to empower others.

E Club of Southern Africa District D9400 financially partnered with The Rotary Foundation, the Sesego Foundation, government, the Alex ECD Forum and Rotary clubs from Germany and United States of America. The ECDL project was awarded $73 704 (R10 03656.85 at the time of publication) to train 154 persons at 28 ECD facilities.

Dr Mpho Phalatse, the MMC for Health and Social Development thanked every person involved in such a worthy cause.

Phalatse said that many ECD practitioners act unlawfully and as such are not able to access the city’s services. She added that there are many hurdles ECD practitioners face to get compliance and the city is working to simplify the process.

She explained that the City will be creating ECD hubs which will be a one-stop shop to help ECD practitioners get training. The first hub is currently being developed in Region F.
