Kramerville security guard wounded in a business robbery

SANDTON – A security guard was recently wounded after he was shot by suspects during a business robbery.

A security guard has been shot during a business robbery at a petrol station in Kramerville.

The incident happened on 16 October and according to Captain Granville Meyer, spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, two robbers entered the shop at the filling station and bought airtime. “When the cashier opened the cash register, one of them pointed at the cashier with a firearm and demanded all the cash and instructed her to put all the cigarettes in a plastic bag.”

Meyer said, as the suspects exited the shop, they were noticed by a security guard approaching them.

“They immediately started to shoot at him, hitting him in the stomach.”

After the guard was shot the suspects allegedly robbed him of his firearm. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash in a Grey Volkswagen Polo.

“The security guard was taken to a nearby hospital where he is in a stable condition.”

Meyer urged anyone with information of the whereabouts of the suspects, to call the police emergency line at 10111.
