Alleged Sandton drug lord cuffed in Italy – report

SANDTON – According to a report, it is believed the man will be extradited to the United States where he is wanted.

Police have reportedly confirmed the arrest of an alleged international fugitive and drug lord, who lives in Sandton.

According to a report by Eyewitness News, the suspect was arrested in Rome, Italy, in October on an Interpol red notice. He has been living in Johannesburg since 2002.

The report further stated that the man was expected to be extradited to the United States where he was wanted on suspicion of the trafficking of large quantities of cocaine in the 1990s. It is further alleged he was involved in negotiations to buy a ‘soviet era submarine for a Colombian drug lord’, the report said.
