Helping Hearts of Hope with a Christmas in July
WENDYWOOD – The Transvaal Ski-Boat Club in Wendywood hosted a festive Christmas in July event in aid of Hearts of Hope on 1 July.

The Transvaal Ski-Boat Club in Wendywood hosted a festive Christmas in July event to raise funds for Hearts of Hope, a local safe home, on 1 July.
The event welcomed club members, friends and family to a Christmas dinner at the club, where a warm evening by the fire was enjoyed by all.
Club member Ingrid Kuhlmann said, “As a club, we felt it important to show support to a charity within our vicinity at times of the year other than Christmas and Easter.”
All the funds raised were used to purchase groceries and vouchers for grocery stores worth R4 000, which were donated to Hearts of Hope.

Hearts of Hope founder and director, Deborah van Dongen said, “Any donation, large or small, makes a huge difference to us. We house 34 children at our facility, some of whom are abused or orphaned or given up for adoption.
“Only 26 per cent of our funding comes from the government, so we rely on donations to keep going. This donation will help us stock our pantry and buy groceries which will make a huge difference.”
The club will host a Deep Sea Angling Seminar on 9 September with Protea anglers. The event is free of charge and will take place from 9 am to 4 pm at the clubhouse, situated at 16 Minto Road in Morningside Manor.
