A 33-year-old male was arrested following the shootout with police.
Brigadier Egen Moodley, station commander at the Sandton Police Station said, “The suspect was arrested near the Hobart shopping centre in Bryanston in possession of a stolen Volkswagen Jetta and an unlicensed firearm.”

“The suspect will appear soon at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court to face charges. The members are thanked for their alertness and swift action, which has resulted in the arrest of a possibly dangerous criminal,” said Moodley.

The suburb of Bryanston was the scene of a shootout earlier this afternoon. It is believed that the shootout was between police officers and two other suspects.
According to a post in the eblockwatch Facebook group, the shots were fired at the corner of William Nicol Drive and Hobart Road.
It is reported that the suspects fled from a vehicle at the Grosvner and Hobart intersection.
Andre Snyman from eblockwatch stated that police managed to arrest one of the suspects’ while a search continued for the second suspect.

Anthony Modena , chairman of the Sandton Community Policing Forum confirmed that the incident did take place.

Sandton Police were contacted for further details, however, the attempt was unsuccessful.
