Join Chabad House for Festival of Lights

The entire community is invited by Chabad House to celebrate the festival of lights this year.

With the festive season in full swing, the Chabad House invites the entire community to celebrate the Festival of Lights with public Menorah kindling ceremonies during Chanukah which take place from 24 December to 1 January.

The festival will take place at the Chabad Goodness & Kindness centre at 8 Stella Street in Sandton as well as at Kosher World in Glenhazel and at Norwood Mall.

Rabbi Ari Kievmann of Chabad House said, “Chanukah, a celebration for all time is highlighted by the kindling of the Menorah each night of the holiday. It is a holiday that enriches our lives with the light of tradition. In ancient times our ancestors rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem with the Menorah. Today, we rededicate ourselves to making this world a better and brighter place.

“Chanukah also propagates the universal message that ultimately good will prevail over evil, freedom over oppression and light over darkness.”

In its Chanukah outreach campaign, Chabad House joins thousands of Chabad centres around the globe that are staging similar public displays of the Menorah and its symbolic lights. From Africa to Australia, Columbia to Hong Kong, an expected eight million people will experience the joy of Chanukah with Chabad.
