According to Captain Xoli Mbele, it is alleged that the suspect raped an 11-year-old mentally challenged girl on the same day he was arrested.
Mbele mentioned that according to the information they received, the suspect normally helps the mother of the victim by carrying her buckets when she boards a taxi.
“The cousin of the victim [allegedly] found the suspect on top of the victim,” Mbele said.
It is claimed that the suspect threatened to beat the victim if she related her story to anyone. Police were contacted and the suspect was apprehended. Investigations are underway and the suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
