Man awaits trial for illegal gun and bullets

ALEXANDRA - Man arrested in Sandton with weapon.

A man (30) was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for possession of an unlicensed gun and ammunition.

He was arrested during a police patrol in the Sandton area at about 8.30pm on 18 May while driving a VW Polo.

Officers asked him to get out of the vehicle, searched him and found the gun, with its serial number filed off and a loaded magazine, wrapped in clothing.

He couldn’t prove legal ownership.

The vehicle was also searched and another magazine with six rounds was found. He was arrested and will appear in court after further investigation is completed.
