Two pupils raise money for SPCA

LINKSFIELD- Read about what two pupils did to raise money for a good cause.

Two eight-year-old pupils of King David Linksfield Junior School, Sophie Hodes and Jade Robinson, raised money for the Sandton and Eastern Metro SPCA using a sponsored Tsogo Sun Gold Reef City prize.

In order to achieve their initiative, the duo arranged a prize to be won for pupils of their school by simply buying a ticket from them. The prize was a one-night stay which included breakfast and dinner, theme park tickets, movie tickets and tenpin bowling for the raffle. They also had a few other smaller prizes for their excited fellow pupils to win.

The duo sold R5 tickets once a week for three weeks during their school break to their fellow pupils in grades 1, 2 and 3.

After selling all of the tickets, Hodes and Robinson managed to raise R4 500 as well as generate a level of excitement and awareness among the pupils about what the SPCA is all about.

The overall winner of the prize was pupil Daniel Waismen.
