Seven ways to boost Smartphone performance
JOBURG - There is nothing more frustrating than a Smartphone which does not function as quickly and reliably as it should.

Ernst Wittmann, country manager of Alcatel Southern Africa, a telecommunications company, shared simple device tweaks which will put the bounce back into your Smartphone’s performance.
Check these out:
- Restart your cellphone as this will be enough to sort out its performance issues.
- Download the latest software updates and keep your device up to date.
- Declutter your device by shutting down applications you are not using to free processing power and memory. Backup photographs, music and other files to a memory card or cloud service. Once you’ve moved the files, delete them off your device.
- Reduce or disable background data on your cellphone.
- Clear your application cache by deleting cached data on your device as this can slow your cellphone.
- Turn off or reduce animations as this slows down your device’s performance.
- Revert to factory settings on your device if all else fails. First do a device backup so you have copies of the important files and data on your cellphone.
