The announcement was made at a special assembly led by principal Manolis Vogiatzis. He thanked the elected pupils for accepting the significant responsibility as councillors, which is a valued and important function at the school.
Spokesperson for the school Avril Wright said, “The leaders are elected through a process of voting by their peers and teachers, followed by a short training period and then the final announcement, which is always a tense and exciting moment. Thereafter, they were handed their blue ties in exchange for their temporary grey ties and invited to sign the prefect register in the headmaster’s office.”
As the school prepares for a busy year with their matric dance taking place on 3 May and the important June preliminary exams thereafter, Vogiatzis encouraged the councillors to manage their time wisely and enjoy every experience of the year ahead.
