Buccleuch Primary shares capacity challenges with ward councillor

BUCCLEUCH – Ward 32 councillor, Bongani Nkomo, visited Buccleuch Primary School to find out what challenges the school faced.

Nkomo said Democratic Alliance Johannesburg regional chairperson, Khume Ramulifho, joined him at the school and they met with the school principal, Charlotte Struwig.

“The idea behind the visit… was to ascertain some of their challenges and just to simply interact with the schoolchildren and teachers,” said Nkomo. “One of the issues that arose was that there are 108 children who live in Buccleuch who are on the school’s waiting list, and the school is not in a position to admit them due to the facility already being at full capacity with 951 pupils.”

Nkomo said Struwig stated that, in an ideal situation, they would like to introduce a facility which would accommodate a senior phase. “Khume and I took note,” said Nkomo.

“There is currently an open space opposite the school which would be ideal for this.

“I thank the big hearts who are the teachers who continue to work tirelessly to shape our little minds.”
