UPDATE: Suspects walk out with cellphone and R50 from Rocomamas Rivonia

RIVONIA – A shot was fired at Burger house Rocomamas in Rivonia during a hold-up by three armed men.

Lieutenant Colonel Andre de Klerk from Sandton police said no one was injured. He added that a customer was robbed of his cellphone and R50 during a late night robbery at the restaurant.

However, national operations manager for Rocomamas, Jared Turner, contradicted this and said it was an attempted robbery and nothing was stolen from the store or customers.

“The security guard actually stopped them,” he explained.

“I’d like to commend him for that. The gun went off as he was trying to push them away.”

He said they are looking at beefing up security.

De Klerk said the suspects drove off in an unidentified vehicle, however, there is CCTV footage available and the police are investigating.
