Sandton Central releases info campaign for Ecomobility Festival
SANDTON – As the highly-anticipated Ecomobility Festival draws closer, the Sandton Central Management District released its information campaign this week to help residents ahead of the festival.

The festival will run from 1 to 31 October in Sandton, and is part of the City of Johannesburg’s plan to decongest traffic in the Sandton CBD by giving preference to public transport, bicycles and pedestrians.
Elaine Jack, Sandton City Improvement District manager, said the information campaign was in response to queries from residents regarding access to the Sandton CBD during October.
She explained that residents, workers and visitors would still have access to the CBD, but the emphasis would be on encouraging the use of public transport.
“There will also be new ways to move around the area [and] now, as part of the City’s festival initiative, it is putting in place infrastructure to enable safe walking and cycling as well as public transport,” she said.
Residents can visit the Sandton Central website to subscribe for news alerts and updates, and they can also go to Twitter or Facebook for more information.
Jack concluded that it was hoped the festival would open up dialogue about workable alternative transport modes, and what improvements could be made in the future.
“We are all invested in the future of Sandton, and it is exciting that we can all play a role in ensuring that this vibrant city remains at the forefront of places to live, work and visit in South Africa.”
