Thabang Mokoera had recently completed his parole for housebreaking when he committed the murder.
Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said Mokoera tried to ask the deceased, a complete stranger, out on a date. When she refused, he began arguing with her and the argument ended when Mokoera stabbed the woman.
The stabbing took place on near the Engen garage opposite Baglayston Day Clinic.
Maphakela confirmed that police have opened an inquest docket into the murder and subsequent suicide.
