Man stabs woman to death, then commits suicide over love lost

BRAMLEY VIEW – Hopeful romanticism ended in tragedy when a man hanged himself in a Bramley View flat on 11 August after stabbing a woman to death on Louis Botha Avenue the day before.

Thabang Mokoera had recently completed his parole for housebreaking when he committed the murder.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said Mokoera tried to ask the deceased, a complete stranger, out on a date. When she refused, he began arguing with her and the argument ended when Mokoera stabbed the woman.

The stabbing took place on near the Engen garage opposite Baglayston Day Clinic.

Maphakela confirmed that police have opened an inquest docket into the murder and subsequent suicide.
