Woman stabbed by fellow commuter

BRYANSTON - After a fight broke out in a minibus taxi on 13 August, a woman was left in a critical condition after being stabbed by a fellow commuter after disembarking the vehicle they were travelling in.

 

The incident occurred at 10.30am on the corner of William Nicol Drive and Grosvenor Road in Bryanston after an altercation broke out between the 27-year-old victim and another traveller.

Spokesperson for ADT Security, Nicola Honey said, “It was alleged that a fight had broken out between two women in a taxi en route to work. Once the taxi stopped and the women got out of the taxi, the one allegedly drew a knife from her breast pocket and stabbed the other who fell to the ground.

“The woman tried to escape, but was apprehended by ADT Reaction Officer Daniel Tlala, who was patrolling the area at the time.”

Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said paramedics arrived at the scene to find the victim in a serious condition after suffering two stab wounds. Steinmann added that the victim was treated on scene before being transported to the nearest hospital.
