Employee steals employer’s clothes, posts ‘new look’ on Facebook

SANDTON - A Sandton resident was shocked to discover that her domestic worker stole her clothing, and was even more surprised to find out through a series of selfies posted on Facebook.

According to reports, the employer received a Facebook friend suggestion of her previous employee. The employer was horrified to discover a number of selfies of her employee wearing her outfits, including her wedding dress.

Some of the selfies were taken in her bedroom while others were taken at the employee home in Tembisa. The clothes were allegedly taken during employment.

In a recent report the resident said, “I feel so violated. I cannot even look at my wedding dress anymore. Some of the buttons are now broken as she tried to force the dress on. This is the dress in which I took sacred vows before God.”

The employee had been employed to work three times a week and was supported by her employer who also sent her to CPR training and provided financial support in the form of school books, clothes and groceries for her children.

According to reports, the employer became suspicious when her clothes went missing, but would reappear the next day after she inquired about their whereabouts.

The employer laid a charge of theft against the worker with the Sandton police and the employee then appeared in court on 3 August. Reports claim that the case was dismissed after the employer withdrew the charges and terminated the employee’s employment.
