Business group donates vehicle to Sandton police

MORNINGSIDE – The Sandton police recently received a much-needed vehicle donation of a Ford ST from Morvest, an investment holding group based in Midrand.

The vehicle handover ceremony took place at the Sandton Police Station in Morningside. “We’re going to catch all the criminals in this fast car,” said Sandton Police Station commander Brigadier Allan Billings.

“This vehicle is definitely going to help us in fighting crime. Your investment is in the best hands.”

Suren Singh, chief financial officer at Morvest, said the company recognises the important role the police play in the community.

“If there is increased visibility, there will be reduced crime,” added Singh.

He also said the vehicle donation was only the beginning of a new partnership between the Sandton police and Morvest.

Former Sandton Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson, Wendy Robertson said, “This is my last official duty as chairperson of the CPF and it is an honour. These donors are showing us how important it is for the community to work together with the police.”

Singh said he hopes the company’s gesture inspires other corporates to do the same.
