Calling all volunteers to join Sandton Victim Empowerment Unit

SANDTON - The Sandton Victim Empowerment Unit is appealing for volunteers to assist in the counselling of victims of crime in Sandton.

Melissa Dolphin-Rowland, on behalf of the Sandton Victim Empowerment Unit, said no background training or experience is required, and training will be provided at a non-refundable cost of R500 per volunteer.

“The training will include two one-day sessions on consecutive weekends on 11 and 17 October,” she added.

Volunteers must be at least 27 years old, have access to e-mail, have their own transport and reside in the Sandton area. It is volunteer work so no remuneration is given.

Pre-interviews will take place prior to training, and individuals will be contacted to arrange a time for training.
