Sewage dumped directly into manhole in Marlboro

MARLBORO – Toilet hire trucks are allegedly dumping sewage into a manhole in Marlboro.

This according to concerned resident Jack Dedlow, who said he witnessed toilet hire trucks driving into a veld along Marlboro Drive where the factories are located.

“I went in there and discovered that they [the toilet hire trucks] are stopping over a storm water manhole and dumping sewage directly into it,” claimed Dedlow.

He said there were no trucks present when he went to have a look. “But it is obvious that this is what’s happening,” added Dedlow.

David Sibiya, spokesperson for Joburg Water, said the depot requires more information for a proper investigation to take place.

“If at least we had a picture of the truck with the registration numbers [and] the dates on which the incident was witnessed,” he said.

Sibiya added that Joburg Water has requested that the depot be on the lookout for any suspicious activity from trucks in the area.

Anyone with information and evidence is encouraged to contact the depot and request to speak to the regional manager.
