Another alleged taxi attack outside Sandton Gautrain Station
SANDTON - Meter taxis outside the Sandton Gautrain Station in Sandton are allegedly still threatening Uber drivers and their clients.

This according to reports on Facebook and Twitter that allege that an Uber driver and his clients were threatened with physical violence by a meter taxi driver.

These reports follow weeks of disagreements between meter taxi and Uber drivers. The drivers have been concerned that Uber’s presence was making business difficult for them.

During the Metered Taxi Summit, MMC for Transport Christine Walters reassured meter taxi drivers that the matter would be escalated to Parks Tau, the Mayor of the City of Johannesburg.
Walters added that it was urgent to ensure that Uber was subject to the same regulatory dispensation as meter taxi operators to prevent unfair competition in the business.
