Nedbank sharpens business skills of the local small business community

PAULSHOF - NEDBANK and Kaya FM held a workshop for upcoming Fourways business people at Henley Business School in paulshof.

The entrepreneurs and business owners gained new insight into how they could take their businesses to the next level.

Speaking during the informative seminar, Dany Kabongo of Nedbank shared with business owners the do’s and dont’s of the practice of procurement. He warned business owners against short-cuts and urged them to acquire necessary documents such as tax clearance certificates, cash flow sheets and to open business accounts.

“These are some of the simple documents that can easily stand in your way of getting bigger tenders,” said Kabongo.

He challenged small business owners to come up with business proposals that displayed a clear understanding of their target market and future business development.

“Any business needs to understand their customers or clients in order to survive,” said Kabongo.

He also identified bad financial practice as one of the pitfalls in business. “You must have a financial expert in your company to make sure that money is managed properly,” he added.

During a feedback session, delegates were able to identify where they were getting it wrong in business.

“This is an eye-opening workshop,” said Sydney Magasha of Magasha Cleaning Company.

Managing director of Ntanku Media, Pleasure Babedi, said he would be immediately putting into practice some of the techniques he learnt from the workshop.
