Visible policing in Woodmead
WOODMEAD - A police helicopter landed in the parking lot of the Woodmead Retail Park on the morning of 8 June though there was no emergency reported.
Community member Brydone Graham sent Sandton Chronicle this video which shows the helicopter taking off from the parking lot of the shopping centre.
Centre manager, Martie Vermeulen confirmed the landing and said it was part of a visible policing initiative.
Vermeulen added, “This campaign has been ongoing and the helicopter makes random stops at the centre and other locations. We welcome and support any action that helps to reduce crime in our country, and commend the Saps for working with shopping centres and retailers on crime prevention. The safety of our shoppers is paramount.”
As of yet the police have not commented on the landing.
