Redhill School supports Cosmo City

SANDTON - Redhill School Grade 10 pupils did not let the recent riots hold them back from doing some good in Cosmo City during their cultural week which ran from 13 to 16 April.

In collaboration with Green Beings, a local environmental non-profit organisation developing sustainable living in schools, the pupils took on an initiative to use wooden pallets that were stripped, re-assembled and then painted into beautiful plant boxes that the schools could use.

In addition to this, they also collected tyres which were transformed into functional seating for the pupils at the various Cosmo City schools. The pupils also created hanging gardens made out of plastic two litre bottles and wire to encourage the schools to get gardening.

Marketing manager at Redhill School Nirvana Rogers said, “The students were so determined to make this initiative a success that not even the recent riots in the Cosmo City area could deter them and they instead chose to go ahead with the project at and have the completed items delivered to Cosmo City where Green Beings would allocate to the respective schools.”

She concluded, “As a result of not having to travel to Cosmo City each day this week, the students finished their tasks before expected and were even able to head down to the Spruit River on Bryanston Drive to do a clean-up and test the water. Such dedication to make our country a better place is truly admirable for such youngsters.”
