Police bust 85 in week-long crime blitz

SANDTON - Police arrested a suspect for possessing presumably stolen steel items following a search of motor vehicles and individuals conducted by the Sandton police to reduce crime incidents in the area.

Captain Kym Cloete, spokesperson for the Sandton police, explained that the man was one of 85 people arrested by the police in the past week.

“During one of these incidents, police searched a person [and] found steel items in his possession with the suspect being unable to explain how he came into possession of the items,” she said.

Cloete confirmed that the suspect was promptly arrested for being in possession of presumably stolen items.
